Create a Channel in an existing Team in Microsoft Teams

To create teams and channels, first create the team in the “Teams” tab by clicking “Add or create a team” and then “Create a team.” After creating the team, select the three dots (…) next to the team name and choose “Add channel” to create additional channels, where you can set the name, description, and type (standard or private).

  1. In your team list, locate the team where you want to add a channel.
  2. Click on the three dots (…) next to the team name and select “Add channel“.
  3. Enter a name for the channel and, if desired, a description.
  4. Choose a channel type:
      • Standard: All team members can access this channel.
      • Private: Only people you add to the channel will have access.
  5. Select “Create“.
