1. Key Features
Live streaming of video, audio, and slides on a single broadcast page.
Audience interaction: chat and social media sharing options.
Access control: password protection available.
Customizable broadcast layout and automatic transcoding for mobile devices.
Access statistics and real-time monitoring during and after the event.
Federated authentication (RCTSaai) for console management and access, intended for institutions in the RCTS network.
2. Access and Authentication (SSO)
Open your preferred browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari, Opera…)
Enter the credentials/URL provided by the Videocast session.
Test and Broadcast
Private test: Check the audio (levels), video (frame rate, lighting), and latency. Click Start Broadcast in the encoder.
The session page will display the broadcast in HTML5 with mobile compatibility.
Monitor and end
Use the Videocast dashboard to monitor audience and statistics, and moderate the chat (if enabled).
When finished, stop the stream in the encoder and close the session.
5. Integrations and Recorded Content
The broadcast page allows sharing on social media and embedding (iFrame/Widget) on institutional websites.
To manage recorded videos and distribute them to classes, use Educast (an FCCN service focused on recording and post-processing classes).
6. Best Practices for Production
Audio first: use a dedicated microphone (lapel/shotgun) and test the levels.
Lighting: avoid backlighting and mixed color temperatures.
Readable slides: font size ≥ 24 pt, sufficient contrast (WCAG AA), and no excessive text.
Network: Prefer Ethernet and reserve bandwidth for the broadcast.
Plan B: Have a local recording in OBS and a 4G/5G hotspot as a backup.
7. Accessibility and Compliance
Subtitles/Transcripts: For recorded events, provide a subtitled version; for live events, consider using human support for real-time captioning (when necessary).
Contrast and minimum font sizes for graphics and overlays (follow WCAG 2.1 AA).
Clear language and language identification in materials (PT/EN), maintaining consistency with the EN version of the website.
